Achieve your musical potential

FAQ

  • We start by finding out your learning style, establishing some goals, and immediately getting to work. It’s a really fun process, I throw a whole lot of information at you and you get all sorts of opportunities to use that information and then go out in the world and dominate your competition with all this knowledge. Seriously, if you use the stuff I show you wisely, people will tremble in awe at your abilities.

All you need to bring is your instrument.

  • Either or.

In person can be at my home studio, I can come to you, or we can meet in a practice room at the University of Tennessee.

Virtual, I use Zoom and am in Eastern Standard Time

  • Yes!I

I will warn you, the first lesson might involve more talking than playing.

  • Everything!

(which includes but is not limited to):

A take-home 30 minute practice routine tailored to your needs

Music recommendations for studying and fun

    Opportunities to perform

Opportunities to join a community of other students and musicians

Free sheet music and exercises that will get even the pros to turn their heads

  • Typically, one hour once a week. If you need less/more (less time more days, or more time less days) just let me know, I’ll work with you. Depending on the day and the subject we may run over our scheduled time, it’s no big deal. I can get passionate and distracted easily

  • You choose whether you would like to:

    $60 for a one-time one hour session

$150 a month for four half hour sessions

    $200 a month for four hour-long sessions

For both monthly options, payment is collected at the end of the month via card, cash, Venmo, or Zelle.

  • Life happens I get it. I have shown up late for band rehearsals that were being held at my own house before. I know time management all too well. I request you give me 24 hours notice but I know that’s not always possible. Just don’t ghost me, and we’ll figure it out.

  • Guitar, bass, audio production, songwriting, and theory are my passions. I can really open your mind with those. However, I currently teach:
piano, ukulele, drums/percusson, and clarinet as well.

If you don’t see your instrument listed but are still curious, DM me, and lets see if I can’t help you out. If I can’t, there’s a good chance I know someone who can.

Testimonials

I’ve played many gigs with Morgan, and I’ve helped him out in a few of the bands he was in. He always pushes me as a player. He’s not afraid to call me out, and I’ve seen some real progress I don’t think I would have found anywhere else.
— Jay K, San Francisco, CA
“I called Morgan from a flyer I saw one day at Panera Bread. Totally random , but I’m so glad I called. I consider him a friend to this day.
— Sam H. Knoxville, TN
I met Morgan when he was in high school, it has been absolutely insane watching his progress as a musician and as a teacher. I always call him when I have music questions, and his answers always make sense.
— Owen G. Orlando, FL
When Morgan was teaching at the school that we had sent our kid for years, my son immediately connected with him. My son is on the spectrum and has sensory processing disorder, and doesn’t warm up to people easily. He cried when Morgan left the school, but we’re happy he’s still teaching!
— Laura K.
Best guitar teacher ever.
— Sydney D, Knoxville, TN

“People have told me I have a way of explaining things that just clicks. Hopefully, you’re one of those people.”

-Morgan Schmitz

Morgan remains #1 on my call list when I have gigs or need someone to fill a spot when I can’t be there. Great teacher, great guy.
